Big Data Analytics in Electrical Utilities – EMRA R&D Project

2017-2019, YEDAŞ EDCo

Nowadays, with the effect of the developing technology, large amount of data production, storage, classification has been stepping forward as an important application area. Different technological systems produce countless data every second in power systems.

Analyzing large amounts of data allows operators to develop new and more accurate strategies by analyzing and turning previously unreachable, unrecognized or unusable data into value-added data.

For this purpose, MRC Türkiye aims to develop algorithms which take not only electrical data but also external factors such as geographical differences, meteorological factors into account, by using collected data from different sources, in order to improve the activities of struggling for energy theft and system outages in the project.

At the beginning of the project, the literature survey, the legislative and sectoral applications related to the concept of Big Data and Data Analysis are examined.

Within the scope of the project, the required strategies in line with the Türkiye’s Smart Grid Road Map and data flow diagrams between the IT/OT systems are developed for accurate management and optimization of the high volume data produced.

In this context, MRC Türkiye provides IT/OT systems evaluation and optimization, big data algorithms development related to system outage and loss & theft energy, data management strategies, road-map development.
